Kerissa Fare (born December 31, 1976) is an American model and actress. She is Playboy's Playmate of the Month in September, 2000 and has appeared in numerous Playboy videos. She graduated from La Sierra High School in Riverside, California in 1995.
Fare, whose real name is Keri Furman Mendoza, found herself in the news in 2004 during the trial of Justin Helzer, one of the conspirators in a quintuple murder which claimed the life of the daughter of blues guitarist Elvin Bishop. Fare had dated one of the other conspirators, Helzer's older brother Glenn, who had convinced her to get the breast implants that eventually landed her a spread in Playboy magazine. She stated that Glenn was charismatic and influential enough to accumulate followers to live his 12 principles of magic, recalling that "it was special just to know him."
Author Erik Davis wrote in his book The Visionary State: A Journey Through California's Spiritual Landscape that Fare became involved with a group run by Glenn and Justin Helzer called Transform America.
Gorgeous and voluptuous blonde bombshell Kerissa Fare was born Keri Furman Mendoza on December 31, 1976 in Orange County, California. Fare grew up as a latchkey kid. Kerissa attended La Sierrra High School, where she was not only a cheerleader, but also a member of the track team. She graduated from La Sierra High School in 1995. Fare moved to Southern California in early 2000 to pursue a career in modeling and worked as a stripper at the Gold Club in San Francisco prior to becoming the Playmate of the Month in the September, 2000 issue of "Playboy." Kerissa subsequently appeared in a few "Playboy" videos and posed for a handful of newsstand special editions. In 2004 Fare was involved in the trial of Justin Helzer, who was one of the conspirators in a quintuple homicide which claimed the life of blues guitarist Elvin Bishop's daughter Selina; she was dating Justin's brother Glenn at the time the murders took place and had to testify in court against both siblings.
Kerissa Fare is the Playboy Playmate for September 2000. Kerissa Fare is a testament to how a positive self-image can help a woman bloom. As a former tomboy who grew up poor in Riverside, California, the fresh-faced Playmate didn't always have a love affair with the camera. “I used to run from it,” she says. “I had low self-esteem and alwayws wore jeans with my hair pulled back” I was 150 pounds just a few years ago! I did my schoolwork and graduated early because I wanted to move out on my own.” On her own at age 17, Kerissa learned self-sufficiency at an early age. “I was a latchkey kid. When I was 11, I cooked for myself and cleaned the house for my dad because he worked two jobs to support my brother and me. (Her mother left when Kerissa was young.) But I wouldn't change anything about my childhood — I'm glad I grew up indepedent and know how to take care of myself.”
Given her hardscrabble background, it should not come as a surprise that Kerissa is open to the unexpected. “I love to take risks and try new things,” she says. The list includes waterskiing, roller-skating and jet skiing. Professionaly, Kerissa has taken a stab at everything, from veterinary assistant to pool shark. “I've been playing pool for about six years,” she says. “I got a fake ID when I was 17 and started playing in a local pool hall. I eventually hooked up with another girl pool player and we did a tournament together and won a trip to Vegas. It was really rad.”
